Re: Well...
Try this it might work xbox and a computer are the same minus a few things and this works for overheated computers i have fixed.
Buy thermal compound and put it on the 2 heat sinks. apply a thin layer to the bottom and screw it back together then let dry for alil and try starting it up while the case is still off. if that dont work try taking the cmos battery out inside the case. its a round battery that looks like a quarter, and put it back in, that will restart the whole system and the memory cause it sees like the fail safe kicked in so that the xbox wont fry itself lol if that works dont put the case back on just let it run open so that it can vent cause its getting to hot and starting to set the fail safe off from the heat, once it hits a certain temp it will start to fry the chipset then its scrap metal lol
i just fixed my friends for practice for school did exactly what i just told u and it worked so as long as it hasn't past the point of no return it might fix it u know

Ya thats what i plan on doing, but the problem is that won't fix all the problems that go wrong with your xbox, the red ring of death doesn't mean it over heated, 2 rings mean it over heated, 3 rings mean you have a failure in the xbox itself. If you get the ring of death press and hold the sync button and press the eject button 4 times. it will "show" you an error code of sorts like,
1 light lights up= 1
2 lights light up= 2
3 lights light up= 3
4 lights light up= 0
and by pressing the eject button it will give you a 4 number error code, mine is 0020. Its caused by gpu/cpu failure, and or power failure.
